Root font size: 16px

Example

Input

24px

Result

1.5rem / 18pt

For REM, divide pixels by the root font size: 24 / 16 = 1.5. For points, multiply by 0.75: 24px = 18pt. Changing the root to 20px gives 1.2rem, while the point size stays 18pt.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a pixel size, such as 24 or 24px.
  2. Read or copy both the REM and point equivalents.
  3. The starting root font size is 16px. Change it under Options only if your page uses a different value.

Things to know

  • REM is relative to the root element font size. The 16px starting value is a convenience, not a guarantee about your page.
  • Points use the fixed CSS relationship 96px = 72pt. Screen zoom, device pixels and font metrics can change apparent size.
  • Accepts one non-negative pixel value up to 1,000,000px. Results round to eight decimal places. This does not identify fonts or measure text in an image.
  • Each text input accepts up to 5 MiB. Output is limited to 25 MiB and combined text settings to 1 MiB.
  • Line-based modes accept up to 100,000 lines, including a trailing empty line.
